Tetsukabuto is well known and very popular in Japan. Fruits, about 5-6 pounds, are nearly round with dark green rind, slightly motted and ribbed. Yellow and thick flesh is very sweet and nutty flavor. Plants are very vigorous, tolerant to common diseases and excellent in fruit settings. This variety is also used as a rootstock of watermelon, melon and cucumber to prevent soil born diseases.
